He has also been guest professor in another five universities in Rome and Spain. He deals with the historical and epistemological aspects of scientific concepts, and the relationship between Science and Faith. His investigation, along with Mariano Artigas, into Roman archives led to the publication of an unpublished manuscript related to the Galileo case, the “Acta Philosophica”, in 2001, as well as the first documentary study concerning the reception of evolutionary theory by the Vatican “Negotiating Darwin: The Vatican Confronts Evolution 1877-1902.” This book has since been translated into Spanish under the title of “Seis católicos evolucionistas: El Vaticano frente a la evolución 1877-1902”. With G. Auletta y M. Leclerc he edited “Biological Evolution: Facts and Theories”. A Critical Appraisal 150 Years After “The Origin of Species”.
